I have broad interests – my research combines community ecology, biodiversity conservation, disturbance ecology, ecosystem ecology and invasive species, with a particular focus on invertebrates. The driving force behind my research is a desire to understand how biodiversity is maintained and how its loss affects ecosystem structure and function.
I am interested in all the ecology on this site.
My route to Liverpool has involved several moves:
2007 – 2012: Trapnell Fellow in African Ecology, University of Oxford, UK
2004 – 2006: Post-doctoral research fellow, CSIRO, Darwin, Australia
1999 – 2003: PhD, University of Pretoria, South Africa
1998 – 1999: MSc, University of Cape Town, South Africa
1994 – 1997: BA, University of Oxford, UK
Apart from loving ecology, I have a particular fondness for Marmite, cricket, Tintin, and bright blue skies.
